Muasher: Need to Focus on Procedural Aspects of the King’s Speech

Former Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Marwan Muasher was the keynote speaker. During the seminar—which was characterized by a brainstorming atmosphere—Dr. Muasher presented a precise analysis of His Majesty’s historic speech. This was followed by a dialogue with Addustour team, during which Muasher answered questions from colleagues. At the start of the meeting, Editor-in-Chief Yanal Al-Barmawi welcomed Dr. Muasher to Addustour. He noted that the primary topic of the day was His Majesty’s speech and the significant content it encompassed. He highlighted that the speech conveyed not only messages but also clear warnings regarding the threats Israel poses to regional and global security, as well as its persistent disregard for international legitimacy—actions that carry repercussions and consequences for both the region and the world at large. Al-Barmawi added: "Given His Majesty’s emphasis that no state is immune to these repercussions, we would first like to ask about the significance of the points raised in the Royal address. How can we build upon His Majesty’s words through action in the coming period to confront Israeli practices—particularly the issue of displacing our Palestinian brethren in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip—as well as the threats that Israel’s actions pose to Jordan and the region?" Muasher: "Thank you for this meeting; I am delighted to be among Addustour newspaper family, as I consider myself part of the media community. His Majesty’s address was, in truth, extremely powerful. However, we must emphasize that we do not want this speech to be treated merely as an expression of anger or frustration, for it is far more significant than that. It is crucial to focus on the procedural aspect of the address, rather than just the part where His Majesty clearly and eloquently explained to the West the dangers of Israeli practices."
